YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
My origin story is not based upon how I learned to work a camera or compose a scene, it is founded on determining the stories most worth telling and finding the creativity to illustrate them well. When it comes to planning a wedding, there is a tendency to feel crushed by the weight of menus, chairs, attire, and all the knitty-gritty details, but there is something far more beautiful than florals, shimmering dresses, and neatly folded napkins. If all that were but dust, I still believe a wedding would be inevitably lovely. There are a billion little instances that will go perfectly right without you lifting a finger on your big day. I don't live to capture only what you've orchestrated, but what you enjoy.
Hi! I’m Allison
As a young adult that has now reached many of the early milestones that we esteem as a culture, marriage was by far the most identity-altering. Our relationships, specifically our family lives, whether by blood or not, are the most influential. There is no other time in your life where the most intimate pieces of your life shift quite so much. You may celebrate a new vocation or a new location, but a wedding will commemorate what was and will inaugurate what will be. It will look down the hallway at the framed images lining the walls, it will call us to reflect on the birthday parties, reunions, holidays, family dinners, and slow Sundays that made us. It will create space on the walls for the memories we will make and the family we will now cultivate.
With a passion for beautiful imagery and a deep love for the spaces that house our deepest connections, our realest emotions, and our most fundamental experiences, wedding photography is where I feel as if I add the most value to the lives of others.
{ AN ENTRY INTO MY WORLD }
A little glimpse into the way I see the world.
I’m the kind of girl who will dress for comfort, but you can rest assured that my socks will match my shoes, my colors will coordinate, and not a single thing will clash. My wardrobe is small and color-coded, and my apartment is nearly bare, not a single picture hanging on the walls just yet. Still, everything we own has a story, a purpose, or a little piece of us tucked inside it. I’ve eaten the exact same breakfast every morning for six years, and for fun, my husband and I bake, flip furniture, play Minecraft, watch whale documentaries, and dream up all the little projects and grand endeavors we hope to bring to life someday.
I’ve also been told I’m a pretty exceptional gift giver. Not the fuzzy socks and candles kind, but the kind who might leave you wondering how on earth I remembered that one little thing you mentioned in passing three years ago. I love the details that tell a story, the gestures that speak straight to the soul, and the little things that make someone feel especially seen, exceedingly known, and deeply loved. I love a gift that brings someone back to a fond memory, reminds them of who they are, or quietly says, I pay attention to you. I think there is something awfully sweet about knowing someone well enough to recognize the little things that make them different from everyone else, and I hope the people I love never have to wonder if they are known by me.
I’m a hobby fanatic, too. I’ve never been particularly good at sitting still, and I find myself most fulfilled when my hands are busy and my time is spent making something meaningful. I love cooking, crafting, and dreaming up all the things I might one day grow, make, mend, or cultivate on a little homestead of my own. I’m drawn to the kind of work that leaves something behind, something useful, something beautiful, something that makes life a little sweeter for someone else. I suppose I’ve always been a little preoccupied with the question of how I can best use what I’ve been given to give something back.
I find so much purpose in the things that nourish us, both physically and spiritually, in the thoughtful use of what we have, and in the little ways we can make our everyday lives feel more intentional. I love a space that feels cared for, a home that holds meaning, and the idea that the things we create can eventually become a place of comfort, connection, and belonging for someone else.
Perhaps that is why I dream so much about having a little place of my own someday, somewhere to grow things, gather people, make things by hand, and pour love into the ordinary rhythms of everyday life. But until then, I hope to find little ways to do just that within the homes and spaces of others, in the places that are already so uniquely theirs.
When I think about it, so much of who I am comes back to intention. The things I keep, the things I make, the way I give, the way I spend my time, and the way I hope to serve others. I’ve always believed that the smallest details can hold the most meaning, that the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary with a little thought, and that being known is one of the sweetest gifts we can give another person.
And I suppose that is what I hope to bring to this sweet craft of mine, too. A little thoughtfulness, a little heart, and a whole lot of intention. Because whether it’s a gift, a home, or something made just for you, I want it to feel like it could only ever have been yours.
